KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
Lead the analysis and interpretation of large-scale, multi-country HIV/AIDS/STI programmatic and clinical datasets. Scientifically assess trends and performance across the HIV care continuum. Conduct stratified analyses relevant to African program realities. Translate scientific findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences. Support development and refinement of indicators, dashboards, and analytical products for program monitoring and improvement.
QUALITY OF SERVICES IMPROVEMENT
Use routine data to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for improving quality of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. Collaborate with global, regional, and country teams to design and support data-driven quality improvement initiatives. Contribute to evidence-based recommendations and operational guidance, aligned to country contexts and applicable guidelines. Support rapid-cycle learning.
SCIENTIFIC WRITING AND KNOWLEDGE GENERATION (PUBLICATIONS)
Lead and contribute to preparation of scientific abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for submission to international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Develop publication-ready analyses and narratives from routine program data and implementation experience in Africa and other Global South settings. Ensure high scientific rigor, ethical standards, and appropriate interpretation of findings, including limitations and context.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND CAPACITY BUILDING
Provide technical support and mentorship to staff at facility, country, and regional levels on data use, interpretation, and basic epidemiological concepts. Contribute to training materials, guidance documents, and learning resources related to HIV data use, epidemiology, and research writing. Support collaboration with academic and research partners as needed, including strengthening local evidence-generation and dissemination capacity.
COLLABORATION AND COORDINATION
Work closely with Global Program, HMIS, M&E, and Clinical teams to ensure alignment between data systems, analytical needs, and program priorities. Represent the organization in relevant research collaborations, and scientific forums, as appropriate. Contribute to cross-country learning by synthesizing findings and sharing best practices across Africa and other Global South regions.
