Job Summary

The holder will coordinate and support all activities under HIV Testing and Prevention Initiatives in the five (5) sites and with the partners involved. The Coordinator will broadly focus on planning, demand creation, referrals/networking, liaison between prevention and medical, peer support, and reporting. She/he will also work closely with Advocacy and Marketing department to identify key advocacy issues and development of suitable communication materials and strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and support to all HIV Testing and Prevention Initiatives activities including planning, implementation, mobilization, and project monitoring and evaluation;
  • Initiates and maintains collaborative linkages with health centers, NGOs, CBOs, Civic leaders, National AIDS control program, and other relevant institutions;
  • Participates in advocacy for prevention and rapid testing models in line with AHFs principles;
  • Participates in the budgeting of all program activities;
  • Supports staff  to ensure efficient management, and projections are made for logistics and supplies for HTS and prevention activities;
  • Identifies training needs and conducts training of health workers in HTS  and prevention in collaboration with various partners;
  • Ensure liaison between prevention and treatment programs is smooth to ensure biomedical service (HIV Testing, STI Screening and management, condoms and Antiretroviral Therapy) are easily made available and accessible to AGYW
  • Plans and conducts support supervision activities for the participating health units, and communities to monitor the quality of HCT activities, and provide technical support to the health workers, and community members supporting the project;
  • Exercises appropriate judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ensures the maintenance of patients confidentiality.
  • Serves as AHF  advocate at the site level
  • Represent the organization in different collaboration meetings between government and other implementing partners interested in youth programs.
  • Coordinate and oversee other primary prevention activities that are evidence-based on reducing new HIV infection, promoting adherence and retention e.g the AYP activities, PMTCT, Girls ACT within the region allocated.
  • Advocate for adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights by representing the organization in meetings, technical working groups (TWGs), and other forums.
  • Maintains professional confidentiality in relation to all activities of AHF.
  • Maintains and foster positive working relationships with all team members
  • Communicate regularly and reports all prevention issues/concerns promptly.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration, Social Sciences, Public Health, and Project Planning and Management. or a related degree program. A background in Nursing is an advantage, Additional training in HIV prevention counseling, Rights Based approach to programming, training in Youth Work and psychosocial support for young people are an added advantage. 
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position working in an HIV and AIDS-related field.
  • Prior experience treating HIV positive patients and familiarity with current HIV&AIDS, TB management practices, and protocols
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
  • Expertise in behavior change communication, and economic strengthening interventions is desirable.
  • Experience working with NGOs, FBOs/CBOs at the community level.
  • Knowledge of the current developments and best practices in the field of HIV and AIDS, globally and in Tanzania

Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills.
